You will thoroughly enjoy discovering the magic that occurs when the glass flows during a hot time in the kiln. We will be using a round Patty Gray mold to control the size of our magic. Additional firings may be necessary as well as some cold working for size. After firings your creation will be slump into a bowl shape of your choice.

Dot Art Bowl | 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

When thinking of dot art what comes to mind for me is the beautiful traditional Bridal Mehandi, the decorating of a bride’s hands and feet prior to the wedding day.
For over 5000 years dotting was used in sand paintings and in body painting for ceremonies. The original use of the dot painting style may have been to create a 'shimmer' effect on a body design or in the decoration of an artefact. The dots might suggest an energy field or powerful aura around the design.
Fast forward many years and the tradition of bridal Mehandi, (dotting) has become an important ritual. Traditionally, the Mehandi night is meant to be organized before the big day to keep the bride's stress level under control. While having the elaborate designs created on the hands and feet ensures that the bride has to switch off from her gadgets and just be in the moment today. It is considered to bring luck, joy, and beauty.
Amidst all the daily chaos, this is a reminder to slow down, relax and unwind as you let your focus be on the beautiful art you will be creating that will bring you joy for years to come.
You will learn this technique while working on two 3” tiles. Then progressing to a 4” bowl.
Prerequisite: None
